General Principles

 

1. The patented 5-5-8 Code Search Method is designed to facilitate Chinese word search, relying mostly on the visage apperance of the word, and the way the word is written.
    

2. Under this system, a word is described numerically according to the following aspects:
   1) the type of beginning stroke (5 types),
   2) the type of last stroke (5 types),
   3) the type of geometrical enclosure (or "boxes") (8 types),
   4) the number of crosses, or intersecting points, and
   5) the total number of strokes.
    

3. Based on analyzing these above 5 aspects on a word, one can form its 5-number code, and thus search for the word in the Dictionary.
