Key concepts in writing Chinese

 

  1. Chinese words are composed of strokes, which derived from pictures thousands of years ago, and used to be written with a brush dipped in ink. Over time, for practical reasons, a generally accepted sequence in how the strokes are written has emerged.
     

  2. Knowing the proper stroke order can help learners memorize easier how words are written, and progress faster when learning more complex words, as well as attain better accuracy and readability, and improve writting speed.
     

  3. While actual hands-on practice is invaluable to attaining solid writing skills, we believe adult learners can quickly grasp the essentials of writing skills, through acquiring a sense or awareness of the (i) types of strokes, as well as of the (ii) the general order on stroke sequence, and (iii) composition of words.
